A new blue plaque for puppeteer and creator of ‘The Muppets’, Jim Henson has been installed at 50 Downshire Hill where he lived from 1979 to 1982. The house continued to be his London base until his death in 1992.
The ‘Jim Henson’s Creature Shop’ located opposite at number 1B Downshire Hill was used as his studio and workshop.
The installation of the blue plaque by English Heritage also marks Jim Henson’s 85th birthday.
Downshire Hill now features 4 English Heritage blue plaques, including those for photographer Lee Miller, Surrealist artist Sir Roland Penrose, artist John Heartfield and biologist and writer, Sir Peter Medawar.
